The FoundAtion for Biological InteractiOn (FABIO) invites applications to fill a Girlfriend Fellow position, currently vacant at the FABIO.
The Fellow is expected to carry on original and independent activities, although interaction and collaboration with the actual FABIO team is expected to take place with frequent -although not necessarily daily- meetings.
The Girlfriend Fellow is expected to possess good skills in the fields of music of the 19th and 20th century, Russian, German and Italian cinematography, cooking, and master at least two languages among Italian, Spanish, French and English; excellent conversation skills in the latter languages are also required, although their use will not be encouraged within the FABIO but for outreach only.
Excellent candidates with expertise in other fields are encouraged to apply as well, as the FABIO is committed to the diversification of activities and broadening of horizons; in this case however, compatibility between the interest of the Girlfriend and the FABIO will be subject to strict evaluation before selection and during the duration of the position.
The appointment has no predetermined duration, although the FABIO is inclined toward continuous and long-term collaborations, the Fellow's activity will be subject to constant scrutiny and evaluation: an unsatisfactory Girlfriend will be removed from the appointment immediately. An especially performing fellow might apply for long-term positions after two years of Girlfriend tenuring, would any permanent appointment become available; applicants should anyways be aware that the FABIO does not envision tenured positions as of now.
The Girlfriend appointment does not include any regular salary nor travel allowance, although meals and small expenses for meetings are usually taken care of by the FABIO; the Girlfriend is expected to provide with independent funding and external grant supply to the common activity expenses, beside the entire support the Fellow's own research activity needs.
The FABIO seeks persons with strong background and expertise, but young enough to be motivated, and enthusiastic; the Girlfriend appointment should be seen as a unique opportunity to apply the accrued experience within the dynamical atmosphere created by the FABIO excellence team.
Although age will not necessarily be a discriminant factor, applications of candidates born before january 1st 1975, and after december 31st 1986 will be considered only in a second time.
